Jazzkia is the title of Saskia's third CD and the formation she brought together in 1995. Both the CD as well as the formation turns to the lovers of jazz and cross-over music. The repertoire consists of famous straight-ahead jazz sandarts, plus some specially selected compositions from Saskia's pen. It is funky and bluesy dance jazz varied with flavor of Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie. Saskia's interpretation of the music here referring more than anywhere else to Miles Davis.Nevertheless Saskia keeps faithful to the sounds of the 21st century.
Saskia is accompanied by rhythm trio on piano / keyboards, electric / acoustic bass, drums. Sometimes she plays with guest soloists (mainly saxophone and / or trombone).
Jazzkia participated at Colombian Theatro Mundo Jazzfestival in Bogota together with legendaric saxophonist Teddy Edwards. Nowadays she works often with Hartford's piano treasure Warren Byrd (Hartford, CT, USA). |
