Saskia Laroo Band : tours to Africa
The Saskia laroo Band will perform on two seperate festivals in Africa:
with the complete eight persons band on: April 30-May 4: HIFA; Harare International Festival of the Art, Zimbabwe They will perform on April 30 for the last Dutch Queensday Celebration. Since last year that same date has been called by the United Nations as International Jazzday, which will celebrate his second edition this year. They have composed a song especially for this event and will do more concerts and jamblends with other multidisciplinairy acts as well as give workshops. This tour has been made possible with support of nfpk and the Dutch Consulate in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Jazzkia+ : Tribute to kind of Blue
Trumpet player Saskia Laroo, inspired by pianist Warren Byrd, has spearheaded a new acoustic jazz project. With her quartet Jazzkia augmented by tenor saxophone, she re-creates the melancholic luster of Miles Davis "Kind of Blue", rendering selections from this historic state-of-the-art album of modal jazz and originals which mirror the mood. Duo Laroo/Byrd : Tribute to Miles & Monk
What if trumpet player Miles Davis and pianist Thelonious Monk would have left their differences behind and did perform together for real? In this spirit, Saskia and American pianist/vocalist Warren Byrd have released in 2011 their first duo album featuring their original compositions as well as Miles and Monk standards. Jazz meets Hiphop
This is another new project by Saskia with emphasis on electronic funky jazz. Since her first album "It 's Like Jazz", she has been combining rap and bebop improvisations, sensing an easy connection between the two music styles; thus from these enterprises she has developed a special musical presentation. Jazz meets Hiphop debuted on May 2012 at the Sugar Factory in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Watch

Dutch Delight in Turkey
Saskia and her Quartet Jazzkia have been invited by the prestigeous Borusan Music House to present a special Dutch Delight concert with challenging music November 16, 2012 commemorating of 400 years of relations between the Netherlands and Turkey. Special guest of this concert includes the adventurous Turkish guitarist Sevket Akinci. Currently we are working to extend the tour with more dates. More about NLTR400

Saskia Laroo Band in de USA
The Saskia Laroo Band performed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the Manchester Craftsmen's Guild on May 19, 2012 as a part of their event "Distinctively Dutch Women in Jazz". This beautiful concert hall is seated in the guild's community center complex--the ghetto-situated headquarters of a profilic outreach mission to Pittsburgh's disadvantaged spearheaded by native Bill Strickland. An audience of spirited seiors were enthralled by the complete eight-piece Saskia Laroo band's high-energy mix of jazz, hip-hop, and African rhythms. Listen to the whole concert

Other tours this year
As in previous years, 2012 enabled Saskia's music to be heard at many points around the globe. She has performed with her assortment of acts in several countries, some of which include the Ukraine, Greece, Panama, Guatemala, Mexico and Oman.
